So, here we are...it's February and I've totally neglected my little blog. But I have a very good excuse...we moved. Yeay!!! In mid-January Chris, Sylvie and I packed up our lives and moved north to Santa Fe. And I can't tell you how happy we are to be here. Now that we're settled I'm going to get back on track...and she's off (again)!

Chris, Sylvie and I spent the weekend in Santa Fe. I was born in Santa Fe and lived there until I was eight (my mom's side of the family traces their ancestry back 12+ generations). However, I've never done the touristy thing...you know, take pictures, do the tours, etc. So this weekend we decided to go tourist...and we had so much fun. These are two of my favorite spots in Santa Fe: The Pink Adobe (actually, their bar, The Dragon Room) and The Shed (plus, their signage is sooo great). I never realized how alike my handwriting is to the type used for The Pink Adobe's sign...strange. All in all, an excellent weekend.
My mom was recently in New York City and I begged her to go to the American Folk Art Museum...but she had a list of millions of places to go/see/eat and ran out of time. However, Sylvie and I have a trip planned for early 2009 and I am sooooo looking forward to seeing this exhibition: Recycling & Resourcefulness: Quilts of the 1930s. According to their website, "Recycling & Resourcefulness: Quilts of the 1930s"
highlights twelve quilts from the International Quilt Study Center
& Museum, University of Nebraska - Lincoln, which were made during
the Depression era by thrifty women who reused clothing, flour and feed
sacks, and other recycled fabrics to create "new" bedcovers in a
variety of vibrant patterns." This exhibition seems so timely considering our current economic situation...I'm definitely feeling thrify lately and and the concept of upcycling has me looking differently at things around the house.
