In late August Chris and I hosted a small gathering at his family's ranch in New Mexico's Hondo Valley to celebrate Sylvie's baptism. Chris and I were married on the ranch and decided it was the perfect place to celebrate our little girl. The evening was spectacular...after it rained all day, the clouds cleared and we all settled on the porch for dinner and drinks.
I decided to go with a bird theme for the day...and found an amazing pattern for these little birdies on Spool Sewing's blog. Spool used the birds for a mobile, but I thought the birds would be perfect as centerpieces. After dinner, I asked everyone to pick a bird, gave them each a card and asked everyone to write a story about their bird for Sylvie. The stories are amazing...completely amazing. Now, I need to arrange the stories (and photos of the birds) in a book for Sylvie. I think someday she'll love reading her what her family wrote to her.
